Care staff are commonly expected by the facility or employer to hold current CPR and first-aid training so they can act with adults in an emergency; a standalone recognized certificate is accepted by employers and home-care providers, and no uniform national residential-care rule sets a fixed standard.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the way to meet this expectation; it is in addition to the worker's occupational training and should be renewed periodically.
