Care staff are commonly expected — rather than formally mandated — to hold current CPR and first-aid training, and a standalone recognized certificate is accepted by employers and home-care providers.

Foster care in Belize is coordinated by the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples' Affairs, which screens applicants, conducts a home assessment and provides preparation before placement. A recognized first-aid and CPR certificate is commonly expected as part of caregiver readiness — including CPR for children and infants — and is recognized by the Ministry where required, kept current through periodic renewal.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Belize, as the law does not prescribe a delivery mode; workplace first-aid training combining online theory with a practical assessment is accepted. Certification is valid for three years and the courses are built on the ILCOR 2025 Consensus on Science.
